OpenAI Launches SearchGPT
Another launch by OpenAI is coming your way.
OpenAI has been testing on SearchGPT Prototype which is an AI-powered search engine that provides solutions to your queries with real-time web information.
Unlike offering a list of links, this robust solution offers brief answers with references to relevant sources.
For now, OpenAI is making SearchGPT accessible as a temporary prototype with a restricted release. Eventually, OpenAI intends to integrate it into ChatGPT.
It includes:
- An interactive interface that permits additional questions
- Information retrieval from different websites in real-time
- Links and in-line citations for the original content
How does SearchGPT look?
The moment you open SearchGPT, it will offer you a space to add your query asking “What are you looking for?”. According to OpenAI, the search engine attempts to arrange and make sense of the connections for the user rather than simply returning a list of them.
How does SearchGPT work?
A representative for OpenAI, Kayla Wood, stated that 10,000 test users will be able to access SearchGPT at launch, which is driven by the GPT-4 family of models. The firm is collaborating with outside partners and utilizing direct content feeds to build its search results. Soon they will integrate it into ChatGPT.
Is SearchGPT free?
Indeed, as there aren’t any advertisements on SearchGPT yet, it will be free to use during its initial launch.

Publisher Controls
In OpenAI’s new launch, publishers will have more control over their visibility in AI-powered search results. The tools will allow publishers to customize how their content appears in SearchGPT.
- Separate from AI training: According to OpenAI, SearchGPT is not the same as the process by which their generative AI models are trained. Websites that choose not to use AI training data may nevertheless show up in search results.
- Content management features: Publishers will gain full access to control, display, and use their content within SearchGPT.
- Feedback mechanism: Publishers can even send emails to the OpenAI team sharing their feedback and concerns. (publishers-feedback@openai.com)
- Performance insights: The company intends to notify publishers of the performance of their content in the ecosystem of artificial intelligence searches.
Potential Effects
Users may encounter changes in content distribution as well as the discovery mechanism over the period. Also, relationships between AI corporations and content creators might evolve in the near future. Further, a new plan of action will be implemented for successful search engine optimization strategies.
Remember, this is a testing phase, however, those who want to get their hands on it first can sign up for a waitlist.
Artificial intelligence will lead the way in the evolution of search in the future, so stay tuned.
