Is Google Experimenting New Features for Google Local Results?

Today, I was looking for some nearby cafes and restaurants. Apart from map results, I tracked new local search features categorized as “Family Restaurants”, “Coffee Shops” and “Places people are talking about” in my feed.

Seems like Google is using short videos from Instagram and Facebook to connect with large audiences for various brands. These results were in carousel format comprising videos and images for different set of results.

For Example, when I searched for a restaurant near DPS school, Ghaziabad… I found Family Restaurant, Punjabi restaurant list, and north Indian food list, below Google map results.

Similarly, when I searched for a Cafe near Gaur International School… I found the Coffee shop list in carousel format.

Also, in this case, as I scrolled further, I found the heading “Places people are talking about” with Instagram and Facebook Short Videos.

Seems like more new features are soon going to add up for Local Search Results.
